Pike District Partnership Names Theresa Cameron as New Executive Director

North Bethesda, MD (January 13, 2025) – The Pike District Partnership (PDP) is excited to announce the appointment of Theresa Cameron as its new Executive Director. Cameron, a North Bethesda resident and current PDP board member, brings decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and fostering business relationships, making her uniquely qualified to lead the organization into its next chapter.

“We are delighted to have Theresa step into this leadership role,” said Matt Herrmann, PDP President. “As a long-time advocate for the Pike District and a committed board member, she understands the pulse of our community. Theresa’s experience and passion for building meaningful connections between residents, businesses, and stakeholders will be instrumental in advancing our mission to position the Pike District’s success as North Bethesda’s urban core.”

Cameron replaces the PDP’s first executive director Eugene Cornelius who retired in January.

Cameron’s career is distinguished by her commitment to fostering community vitality. Most recently, she served as Vice President of External Affairs at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Strathmore, where she developed partnerships, strengthened donor relationships, and enhanced the organization’s visibility in the region. She has also held leadership roles at Van Ness Main Street and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, among others, where she worked extensively on programs supporting small businesses, placemaking initiatives, and cultural development. With her deep knowledge of Montgomery County and her strong relationships with local businesses and stakeholders, Cameron is poised to lead the PDP in fostering a welcoming and connected community in North Bethesda.

“I am honored to take on this role and to continue serving the Pike District community,” said Cameron. “As someone who lives in North Bethesda and has seen firsthand the incredible potential of North Bethesda, I am excited to deepen connections with local businesses, residents, and organizations to strengthen our sense of community and create new opportunities for collaboration.”

Theresa Cameron’s appointment comes at a crucial time as the Pike District continues to evolve into a premier urban hub in Montgomery County. The Board of the Pike District Partnership unanimously approved Cameron’s appointment after a thorough selection process. Her proven expertise in fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach will be pivotal as the Partnership seeks to enhance its initiatives aimed at economic and cultural enrichment.

The Pike District Partnership, launched in 2022, works to promote North Bethesda as a walkable, vibrant community that blends residential, business, and cultural opportunities. Under Cameron’s leadership, the PDP will continue its focus on engaging the community, supporting local businesses, and enhancing quality of life through placemaking initiatives, events, and strategic partnerships.
