Public Relations & Marketing Associate
Maier & Warner is looking for a public relations and marketing associate to join our growing team!
Maier & Warner is an established public relations and marketing firm serving corporate, government and nonprofit clients throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Launched in 2004 by co-founders Charlie Maier and Kris Warner with a singular focus on local commercial real estate and economic development in the DMV, the firm has grown to support multiple industries and provide comprehensive communication services for clients across the nation.
This position will support senior-level staff across a variety of communications functions. The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starting and results-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a natural entrepreneurial spirit. Candidates should also be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently (as well as remotely) and will be organized with exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple projects at once.
Relevant experience should include a core understanding of best practices, and demonstrable proficiency in performing and managing a wide variety of public relations and marketing communications functions, such as copywriting and messaging, media relations, corporate communications, community outreach, crisis response, events, marketing campaigns, advertising and more. A general knowledge of digital marketing is also desired, with exposure to email marketing, social media management, graphic design, web development, digital advertising, and analytics preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing, public relations, advertising, communications, journalism, or a related field, as well as a minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience. Clientele- or industry-specific subject matter expertise is not required, but an interest in local economic development and commercial real estate in the Washington, D.C. region is helpful to support our firm’s focus.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of prior relevant work experience, with a degree concentration in a relevant field
Self-starting and results-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a natural entrepreneurial spirit
Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail and efficiency working both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, ever-changing, deadline-driven environment
Excellent writing skills required, with a core understanding of best practices, and demonstrable experience performing public relations and marketing communications functions, such as copywriting and messaging, media relations, corporate communications, community outreach, crisis response, events, marketing campaigns, advertising, etc.
Adeptness in digital marketing, such as email marketing (Mailchimp or similar), social media management (Hootsuite or similar), website management (WordPress, Squarespace or similar), and digital advertising (Google Ads, etc.), as well as experience gathering analytics across all channels and demonstrating measurable ROI
Practical knowledge of visual design, especially Adobe Creative Cloud, a plus, but not required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Mac/Windows operating systems and cloud storage environments, and video teleconferencing software required
